About William B Harlan Memorial Library

In April of 1962, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Harlan donated $25,000.00 as well as a plot of land to be used for the construction of a new library building in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. This generous gift to the community was made in memory of their son, William Harlan, who had been a professor at the University of Southern Mississippi. William B. Harlan Memorial Library opened to the public in October of 1966. Construction finished on a new addition to the library in 2019 which has allowed WBHML to grow and continue to better serve the citizens of Monroe County.
